The new Buster M also converts for angling

Buster’s new fishing accessories package, previously available for the Buster S, can now be added also to the Buster M, a popular boat model one size category larger. With the fishing accessories package, the M and S convert into fishing boats according to your specific needs.

The new fourth-generation Buster M is an aluminium boat that is 4.86 metres long and designed for five persons. Its engine power range is 30–40 hp. With the fishing package, the boat’s total weight including the engine is just slightly over 500 kg, making it an easy one to haul on a non-braked trailer.

“By adding this package, you can convert your Buster M or Buster S into a modern and practical fishing boat that is particularly well suited for angling. Both models are easy to move; however, the Buster M, which is almost 50 cm longer, clearly has the feel of a bigger boat to it,” says Jani Ollikainen, a fishing guide who was involved in the development of the accessories package.

The fishing accessories package of the Buster M and Buster S features a rod box, a fishing platform with a fishing seat and a rack for the trolling motor. The components can be acquired separately, and the equipment can be removed when converting the boat for other uses.

More practical and spacious rod box – added space and comfort on the fishing platform

With the fishing accessories, Buster’s bow box expands into a good-sized fishing platform. The platform provides fishermen with elevated deck space to improve visibility and facilitate angling. Under the fishing platform there is ample storage space for camping gear and fishing tackle to keep them out of the way during the action. The storage compartments are accessed via two large hatches positioned at the rear end of the fishing platform.

The front end of the fishing platform houses not only the bow box, which comes as standard in the Buster M, but also a separate storage compartment for boating gear such as anchors and fenders. The fishing platform features a removable high-quality fishing seat.

An additional – slightly smaller – fishing platform can be created by detaching the integrated canvas garage. Then the aft bench and the swim platforms will be on the same level and can be used for fishing.

The long rod box attaches onto the port side of the boat. The twin-console version of the Buster M comes standard with the short rod box placed in front of the left console.

“The rod box is really spacious and easy to use. Pike fishers, for example, most commonly use rods that are 8.5 feet long, and you can easily fit 5-6 such sets including the reels in the box. It is easy to line up the rods on the box cover for fishing,” Ollikainen explains.

The rod box provides practical additional storage space for other gear as well, which comes in handy during the trip to the cabin and back, for example.

The trolling motor rack, mounted slightly to the side of the boat's centre line, will leave plenty of tread area on the bow deck to facilitate access to the boat. Additionally, on the outside of the rack there is also a new mounting place for a rope cleat, so as to protect not just the rope cleat but also the trolling motor.

“The small trolling motor is handy and easy to use when moving through reeds where pikes can be found and when manoeuvring around rocks,” Ollikainen says.

Light and easy to haul

The new Buster M with the optional fishing accessories package weighs 413 kg. The recommended engine is the Yamaha F40F that generates impressive torque and is economical to use. The Buster M comes in two versions: the single-console M1 and the twin-console M2.

The smaller Buster S with the optional fishing accessories included weighs only 308 kg, and its recommended engine power range is 20–30 hp. The boat works best with Yamaha's new F25G engine that weighs just 60 kg.

The Buster S is available in three versions: the S that is tiller-steered on the aft seat; the S1 with a side console; and the Scc with a centre console.

The fishing accessories package can be retrofitted to all Buster M versions of the 2018 model year and all Buster S versions beginning from the 2017 model year.
